In today’s charge-for-every-checked-bag world, carry-on luggage that adheres to airlines’ size guidelines is an absolute must. Keep reading to find out what makes a great carry-on bag and check out a few of my favorites.
What to Look For
Size. Make sure the bag adheres to the size regulations set forth by the airlines… otherwise you’ll be forced to check your carry-on bag. (Check the airline baggage regulations here.)
Maneuverability. If you’re contemplating a wheeled carry-on bag, check to make sure it moves easily as you pull it behind you.
Carry-ability. Even if your bag has wheels, there are times when you’ll have to carry it the old-fashioned way, so make sure the handles and straps provide a comfortable way to carry the bag.
Durability. Make sure the bag is made of high-quality leather, rugged Cordura or ballistic nylon, or a hard polycarbonate material that’s lightweight and will last for years.
Stability. Is the bag easily tipped when in an “at-rest” position? If so, skip it!
