Chic Weekenders

Until recently, the virtues of a weekender were lost on me. I had a carry-on I could pack for a week in… why did I need another bag? Then an easy, breezy weekend away with friends popped up, requiring all that I pack be a bikini, makeup, a pair of sandals and three beach-ready dresses – all of which swam in the open space of my now (what appeared to be) enormous carry-on bag.

Fortunately, I had time to pick up a weekender – and am now a full-fledged convert. My clothes stayed neatly tucked into place (thus not wrinkling) and I still had room for my personal items and a couple of new skirts and dresses I bought in the seaside town we spent our days rambling around.

If you’re headed out of town for just a few days anytime soon, I’d highly recommend that you bite the bullet and snap up a chic weekender yourself. Some personal faves include:

  • Clava Nantucket Flight Bag. This just looks like something Katherine Hepburn would have carried – which makes it absolutely fabulous in my book.
  • Dr. Koffer Nabokov Travel Bag. In super-soft leather, this timeless weekender is perfect for on-the-go men and women who have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
  • Almas Travel Bag. Simple, classic and roomy enough to take you anywhere for the weekend, this rich leather bag is always an excellent choice.
  • American West Cattle Drive Duffel Bag. Western style has never looked more chic. Add this hand-tooled leather bag to your collection and go anywhere in style.
  • Clave Racing Duffel. Sporty yet sophisticated, this duffle has enough room for all your necessities – and a few special extras – without leaving your things to swim in a sea of space.
  • With one of these fab bags in hand, you’ll want to pack up and hit the road a little more often. So call your friends and family across the state and around the country and let them know you’ll be coming for a visit sooner than they thought!
