The crisp fall air always makes me want to get outside and play. From hiking mountains to running trails in state parks, biking greenbelts to walking my dog – for me, fall is all about movement. But without the right accessories, it’s easy to fall prey to boredom, thirst and complacency, so to keep my outdoor activities as engaging (and healthy) as possible, I’ve tossed a few must-have accessories into my shopping cart lately. If you want to follow suit or need some new toys to keep your workouts fun, take a page from my book and pick up these fantastic finds:
SoundKase iPod Video Skins Dark Multi Colored 3 Pack with Arm Band & Lanyard. Keeps music at my fingertips no matter where I am or what I’m doing.
Garmin GPS 305 Forerunner. This wireless heart rate monitor helps me push myself without over-exertion. Plus, since I can seamlessly transition between sports without resetting the unit – and use the built-in GPS system while I’m out and about – it’s the perfect device for triathletes (which I’m not, but I do fantasize about becoming).
Ogio Moto Hydration Pack. The water reservoir holds 2 liters, and the bag also leaves room for me to pack my keys and a bite to eat should hunger strike along the trail.
Roots Watches Shining Star – Blue. On days when I don’t need a heart-rate monitor or a GPS system with me, I just strap on this lightweight watch and go.
Mountainsmith Pet Dog Trippin Kit – Medium. When I take my dog out for a trek, this pack lets him carry his own gear (and some of mine). Complete with reflective trim, collapsible water bowl, pockets for my keys, it gives him a job on the trail and frees my hands up to hold the leash.
To keep my gear organized when not in use, I toss it all in the Calpak Proxy 22″ Multi-Pocket Duffle, which makes heading to the gym a breeze after the weather gets too cold for an outdoor adventure.
