Travel Pick-Me-Ups
August 27th, 2008We all know how we feel after flying halfway across the country (not to mention halfway around the world): grimy. And between the drying, recirculated air, falling asleep sitting up and the extreme temperatures of the cabin, we all arrive at our destinations looking, well, less than beautiful. Fortunately, there are a few simple things you can do to stay looking your best even on a long-haul red-eye.
For starters, wear something comfortable that won’t wrinkle or bag after sitting in it for long periods of time. Think wide-legged wool trousers, a stretch tunic dress and leggings, and flat shoes. (And don’t forget to toss a pair of glamorous sunglasses and a chic scarf in your bag just to dress things up a bit when you disembark.)
With the wardrobe down, once onboard, drink plenty of water and use a few of these items to help keep you looking fresh:
Of course keeping my book, my pillow, umbrella, scarf, sunglasses and eye mask in the carry-on bag I stow in the overhead compartment would never work (because I’d be in and out of it a few times during the flight and that just might add to the discomfort of flying), so I pack my go-to necessities in sophisticated tote like the Roots Equipment Large Urban Travel Bag and keep my travel documents, IDs and cards organized by using the Royce Leather Passport Travel Wallet.
