Unhappy with Product
By TravelerVerified Reviewer from San Diego on 7/5/2008
Pros:
Good Capacity
Cons:
Lock difficult, No address tag, No TSA lock, Only 1 side for packing
Best Uses:
Long Vacations
Describe Yourself:
Comfort-Oriented
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We were packing and ready to leave...the combination lock would not lock. Then it did lock and we didn't have the combo. Had to break the combo lock and use the two corner key locks.

It is very inconvenient to only be able to pack on one side.

I had already put our name on inside with marker, and of course had to break the lock, so it can't be returned. We will just donate it to Goodwill.

I was happy with my older hard-sided Samsonite, it zips and has a combo TSA lock, that is why I bought this luggage. Oh, well, chalk this up as a learning experience.

I typically go through 3 cases a year. This is my first Samsonite and it's holding up very well. My Italian Samsonite copy has blown latches, the extention won't lock and I'm going to retire it for another Samsonite.

After reading the reviews on this site on this bag i was astonished at the misinformation some of the reviewers were giving. First off the bag is just a hardshell there is nothing inside of it, no fabric liner. It is lighter than any bag of a comparable size, meaning you can add more fabric to the inside (your clothes). The bag is not flimsy, when closed it is as sturdy as they come. I have had this bag for six years and it has been all over the world and it is the most indestructable bag I've ever owned.

Great Luggage
By EmJSeaVerified Reviewer from Baltimore, MD on 2/28/2008
Pros:
Easy To See Color, Good Capacity, High Quality
Cons:
Non-TSA Compliant Locks
Best Uses:
Cruises, Long Vacations
Describe Yourself:
Comfort-oriented, Practical
Primary use:
Personal

My favorite piece of luggage. The only drawback is the top part of the shell doesn't have a flap to hold items in when closing, but I've adapted. Honestly, you can't beat it for the price. It's strong and durable and the color stands out on the luggage carousel.

By Martin Geller from Undisclosed on 8/7/2007

Best hard-shelled suitcase I've ever owned. All aspects of the suitcase have been well-designed. When opened, the bottom "half" holds at least 85% of contents, so no clothes flip over when the suitcase is closed. Rubber gasket covers edge when closed.

By laurel harris from Undisclosed on 2/8/2007

I am completely unsatisfied with this product -- in fact, it almost resulted in disaster! On the morning of my planned flight to India, I found out that this suitcase exceeds the airlines' size limits. I had no idea until then. I had to purchase a new suitcase and re-pack on my way to the airport -- I almost missed my flight, and was extremely fortunate to find another hard shell bag on my way. As soon as I return, I am going to send this bag back for a full refund!!!! Please reply to this email. Laurel Harris

By Gary Brockman from Undisclosed on 1/10/2007

I purchased this piece of luggage because it was what my mate wanted. After see the item I have feel that I paid too much for an item that is injected molded plastic. The purchased is based on the Samsonite name, all other pieces that we have are very good quality. In Alaska hard side Samsonite is as rare as hens teeth.

By Steve Affleck from Undisclosed on 5/29/2006

We travel a lot and our fabric luggage gets destroyed too easily. We're finally spending a bit more on hard shell, and so far it's been perfect! No zippers destroy and no fabric to tear. I recommend putting a strap around the body just in case the lock comes open, but that's never happened to us...yet.
