After a decades-long career as a fashion model that took her around the globe, Sara Newman discovered that there was a serious lack of well designed cosmetics cases on the market. Her inspiration came while working in Japan where she noticed that the makeup artists kept their supplies meticulously sorted in black lacquer "bento" style boxes. She was struck by their simple design that beautifully organized every item of makeup. After returning home to Venice, CA, she combed through L.A.'s vintage stores (and her Mother's closet) and found further inspiration in classic 1950's, '60's and '70's purses and beauty cases.

So, using a lot of her sense of style, a little of her Harvard
education and some help from her friends, Sara named her vision Soapbox Bags and produced her range of perfectly practical travel bags, handbags, totes and cosmetics cases that were also fantastically fun, durable and stylish!
